Rossano Ferretti Hairspa, Verona: A Royal Treat

If you google Rossano Ferretti, you stumble upon two things: a list of celebrities with flawless hair, like Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge; and, of course, information on the man himself, the creator of the Method for cutting hair in a more natural way.

As a beauty enthusiast, I have always dreamed of having my hair cut by him or in one of his salons across the globe. Especially after last August. What happened last August, you ask? The worst haircut of my life happened. I went in, to the usual place in my old little town back home, showed a picture and uttered the magic six words: ‘I want to look like this!’ I got out looking like a sad little sparrow with wispy air and the most ridiculous short fringe. I didn’t leave the house for the rest of those holidays – I really could not cope with the way I looked. I know it sounds dramatic, but I really could not recognize myself. I was not who I wanted to be.

I’ll always look back at that August with an equal measure of sadness and anger. That was the moment I said to myself, ‘Next time you feel the need to have your hair cut, you either go somewhere Good (capital G), or you don’t cut your hair, you silly girl’. It became a sort of mantra for me; when my dad looked at me at Christmas, he remarked how, despite the longer hair and looking much better than before, I desperately needed a haircut. Well, dad, I am sorry but I’ll have someone Good cutting my hair next time, or I won’t cut them at all; and that’s that.

I think my parents must have thought I was being unreasonable. In a way, I see why that would be the case. I mean, it was not a tragedy. After all, I survived. But many of you might know, it is no fun not being able to look at yourself in the mirror. In a way, it is a breach of trust, a betrayal when something like this happens. I trusted someone with the care of one of the most important signs of my identity, and I felt cheated of the opportunity of creating myself anew.

In the end, I guess my mum understood my perspective. Almost a year after the incident, she booked a hair appointment for me at Rossano Ferretti Hairspa Verona. We were visiting the area, and she arranged for a surprise!

Now, a couple of months have passed since that amazing day, and I feel detached enough to provide you all with an objective review of that experience: no one can accuse me of being too close to the event.

And that is why I feel free to say: the people at Rossano Ferretti Verona spoiled me for any other hair stylist.

Let me integrate some visual evidence so that you can also appreciate the veracity of my words.

Entering Rossano Ferretti Verona means leaving the city behind along with all of the worries connected to it. You are welcomed by the nicest people and led upstairs where your stylist awaits.

Before anything else, I was introduced to Andrea, my stylist for the day, who listened to all of my requirement and even sympathized with my previous haircut drama. Bless him, he totally understood my fears and my needs. We had a very nice, long talk. He analysed my hair, especially the way it would naturally fall (a key element of Ferretti's Method).

After having assessed the situation, we moved to washing and I was surprised to see that a stylist accompanies you throughout the experience; because even washing is important and not something to be underestimated. And, it was the first time I had my hair washed without the feeling of someone wanting to tear my scalp off. Moreover, Andrea explained the kind of products he was using on me — another nice thing is that at Rossano Ferretti's, they use only Rossano Ferretti products – no cheap substitutes!

With the washing done, and the rinse-free products applied on the hair, the cutting started. Andrea was great, answering all of my questions with kindness and patience: "does my hair look healthy?", "do you think my hair is too thin?", "how should I style my hair to look better?", "to blow-dry or not to blow-dry?"

You can see that it would have taken a saint to deal with me.

Andrea definitely turned out to be a miracle worker!

And this is the end result! A smiling girl with perfect hair — a testament to Andrea's work  and to the Rossano Ferretti franchise more than to my own hair.

Everyone was actually really nice, they even allowed me a peak in the privée area!

So, when I say that my experience at Rossano Ferretti Hairspa Verona was a royal treat, I don't mean it because their name is often connected to the perfect beauty of royalty but because they made me feel like a queen.
