The Attic On Eighth's Summer Playlist
Have we talked enough about summer yet? Calendar seasons feel fickle, at a time like this when the weather changes from one minute to the next, when one side of the world is wearing jumpers and coats while the other seeks all methods of escape from smothering heat waves. But much like falling in love after being single for a very long time, finding summer after dreading it for years feels like a weird sort of honeymoon. Spring, like singledom in this elaborate metaphor of mine, is over, in a bittersweet, melancholic way, but summer is here and we are euphoric. Honeymoon periods are easy, after all, and we may get over it soon enough, but for now there’s nothing to do but continue lounging, loving, sleeping happily as the days wrap us in a warm glow. Cheerful at times and drowsy at others, this playlist feels like summer, from its crisp, energetic mornings to its sultry, lazy evenings. June is over, June is over. There are all kinds of summers in the world, but never the same summer twice.

Lounging in the sunshine, cherries at every meal, linen and eyelet, romance, drama, iced coffee, literature. A lazy playlist for the warmest time of year.
